Don't know anything about Quake or Doom?

Quake III Arena gameplay from QuakeCon 2007 - 1 on 1 by Id Software

The Quake game series started out as a single player story vs a world of baddies.   As the games developed into a series, their most popular mode of play was multiplayer:  Your skills in the game vs the other guy.

The third addition to the series was Quake III Arena.  The game had no single player storyline.  A short intro to the game explained roughly that an unknown power would capture a mighty warrior before his\her death, and throw them into Arenas where they were forced to battle 1 on 1.

Geared specifically for multiplayer only, Quake III Arena redefined game levels.  Instead of sprints from point A to B, worlds were built for specific modes: 1 on 1, 2 on 2, up to 5 on 5, and larger.   Capture the Flag and Rocket arena are two of the games popular add-ons.  Your items for survival are strategically located around a map, forcing you to control your opponent and his resources.

Our film is based on Quake III Arena.  The character is shoved into 1 on 1 battles with opponents.

Created by the same software company as Quake, Doom III tells the story of a lone marine, trapped on Mars and fighting his way through an army of unleashed demons from Hell, connect via portal.    The Doom character made an appearance in Quake III Arena, and it is only fitting that we connected his story from Doom III, to his appearance in the Arenas in our animated film.
